This paper presents project managers (PM) competencies that influence the successful achievement of sustainable development (SD) projects. A relevant literature review is conducted to summarize the PMs’ competencies that lead to outstanding performance in projects. Then, this has been narrowed down to find out the PMs’ competencies that influence the adoption and completion of SD projects. Considering the different views, the primary purpose of this exploration is to illustrate the PMs’ competencies that have a positive impact on the achievement of SD projects in an integrative model. The investigation indicates that there are four main categories of PMs’ competencies that influence the success of SD projects: project management skills, team management abilities, emotional intelligence skills, and formal skills. Hence, this study demonstrates a model inclusively for PMs to relate the found PMs’ competencies to the successful implementation of SD projects. The model primarily explains that PMs who acquire the found competencies have a higher potential to achieve outstanding results in existing and future SD projects....
The research addresses the increased focus by organizations in adopting sustainability measures as necessary strategies to improve their performance and be more responsible for the impact their operations have on the surrounding economy, societies, and environment. The article reviews studies on the correlation between adopting digital transformation programs and delivering sustainability goals and deriving global examples. Interviews are conducted with four UAE-based companies (DU, FEWA, Etisalat, and DEWA). The results shed light on their sustainability goals, how they motivated their respective digital transformation and the significant outcomes of digitization regarding sustainability. Reduced waste, more efficient and cost-effective processes, and a higher quality of service to customers were some of the key results of the digital transformation that facilitated a more sustainable operation by these companies....
In order to study the behaviour of capital structure decisions of Spanish and Portuguese listed firms, we using as methodology the dynamic estimators to analyse the influence of firmspecific and country-specific determinants. The sample in this study is composed with 67 Spanish listed non-financial Spanish listed firms and 35 Portuguese listed non-financial firms, for the period of analysis between 2008 and 2016. The results obtained indicate that capital structure decisions of Portuguese and Spanish listed companies converge in terms of transaction costs, however, in greater magnitude for Portuguese companies, since the coefficient of adjustment of current debt towards the optimal level of leverage varies between 0.662 and 0.695 for Spanish firms and between 0.674 and 0.834 for Portuguese firms. The results also indicate a convergence in the behaviour of Spanish and Portuguese firms' financing decisions in the context of agency costs, as the results indicate the existence of a significant positive relationship between the tangibility of firms' assets. Similarly, this convergence is also evident for the determinants of information asymmetry problems, with profitability and liquidity variables negatively influencing Spanish and Portuguese firms' leverage. However, only the financing decisions of Spanish firms are influenced by market conditions and stock market development....
This study aims to test the variables of green marketing, innovation, and ethics towards business performance. This study employs a quantitative approach with a survey method, with the population of the study consisting of all visitors who had visited ecotourism in Indonesia prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study’s sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The sample consisted of 24 samples, which were determined using the Machin formula with 30 sample details. The Likert scale is used in the measurement scale, with the options being strongly agree (5), agree (4), neutral (3), disagree (2), and strongly disagree (1). This study’s analysis consisted of descriptive analysis and verification analysis using SEM PLS. Path analysis is used to calculate the influence of strategies like green marketing, innovation, and ethics on business performance. The total respondents who became the sample in this study were 25 people. The results showed that the research model developed in this study was proven to strengthen theoretical concepts in the field of management after being tested using the Structural Equation Model (SEM). The concept can be used as a reference by other scholars. It is hoped that, as a result of these findings, management research will be realized that is mutually sustainable and synergistic for the company in supporting the improvement of business performance, enabling the accomplishment of all of the organization's goals....
Securing information security is in the interest of all users of information and communication technologies, namely individuals, businesses and organizations, national authorities and institutions, multinational groups, and IT consulting companies. In this paper, we evaluate the results of our surveys in the field of information security in the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises, which were carried out in the years 2008 - 2020. The research was conducted through a research model that was developed based on the analyzed professional and scientific literature. The model was validated in the individual years of study on a sample of small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the Slovak Republic. The aim of the surveys was to map the evolution of the companies' approach to information security. Standard methods of scientific work such as analysis, synthesis, comparison, and selection were used in the preparation of the paper. A questionnaire survey was used to collect data, which were evaluated using descriptive statistics and cluster analysis. We expected that companies would pay more attention to information security during the study period, but this was not confirmed. In most cases, the values of the research indicators did not change in leaps and bounds, but gradually, and did not show large differences. The highest increase was recorded in the handling of sensitive information (23%), which can be justified by the regulation GDPR. Other positive values were in the following cases: personal data protection (an increase of 14%), problem management (an increase of 13%), and integration of information systems within the organization (an increase of 13%). We assumed that the main driver of increased care for information security would be legislative pressure in the Slovak Republic, but here we saw an increase of only 10%. An interesting and unexpected result was recorded in the case of small businesses, sector G - Trade - sales, consulting, services, which were classified into three different clusters. It means that small businesses operating in Slovakia in the same industry approach information security differently. A more detailed examination of the mentioned differences thus creates assumptions and topics for further research....
